Summary:The Registered Nurse must provide nurses care with established guidelines and procedures to individuals that require care. They may provide clinical supervision to paraprofessional and direct care personnel to which they are assigned. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards and function as a member of a treatment team.Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications. Administer medication, manage, and deliver restorative or palliative care to the ill, disabled and dying. Teach and counsel patients about maintenance of health and prevention of illness or complications. Execute medical regimens as prescribed NY Licensed Physicians, Dentists, nurse Practitioners, Physician Assist and Podiatrists. Includes advanced Practice Nurses such as Clinical Nurse Specialists. Advanced Practice Nursing is practiced by RN's who have specialized formal, post-basic education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles. Registered Nurses must be licensed in New York State and have a minimum of one year's work experience post licensure.Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Incumbents conduct health assessments; prepare and implement nursing care plans; diagnose and treat individuals' responses to actual, potential, or diagnosed health problems through nursing services, such as case-finding, health teaching and counseling, and the provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; execute medical regimens prescribed by licensed health care providers; and serve as members of interdisciplinary health care teams and health-related committees to plan and implement care for individuals.
- Registered nursing tasks and activities include; coordinate, direct, and provide nursing care to individuals; administer treatments and nursing procedures within established guidelines and as prescribed by licensed health care providers; consult on nursing matters with treatment teams and other disciplines; and may provide clinical supervision and training to lower-level licensed and unlicensed direct care staff on nursing care activities; such as the preparation, evaluation, and implementation of nursing care plans to ensure the provision of quality care.
- Provide professional nursing services which may include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care.
- Participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards, and function as a member of a treatment team. You may also act as a charge nurse on a unit or in a residence, or as house or unit supervisor in a nursing home.
- Assuring that the safety and physical comfort of the patient meet as well as the patient's emotional and spiritual needs.
- Performing nursing procedures for which his or her training has provided the necessary skills and judgment.
- Assisting with the rehabilitation of patients according to the care plan directed by the physician.
- Observing and recording all pertinent information and reporting to the appropriate supervisor and physician.
- Medication management.
- Completes documentation as required and in accordance with the facilities' policy.
- Accurately report patient status to supervisor.
- Consistently practice standard precautions.
- Performs all duties promptly in a competent and caring manner.
- Maintain good communication among patients/residents and all healthcare personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate and handle many kinds of medical equipment.
- Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirements.
- Stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment.
- Complies with all facilities' policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assists with transfers and ambulation.
Requirements:
- Currently a Registered Nurse in New York State
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 and comply with any testing and future vaccine mandates.
