Job Summary:We are seeking a specialized and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our gastroenterology and hepatology team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with physicians to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. This role involves both outpatient and inpatient care, including diagnostic testing, treatment planning, and coordination with other specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with patients to understand their health concerns and symptoms.
  • Manage patients with conditions such as celiac disease, gallbladder disease, chronic pancreatitis, GERD, esophageal cancer, and esophageal dysmotility.
  • Diagnose and treat liver-related diseases including Hepatitis B and C, hemochromatosis, autoimmune liver disease, and cirrhosis.
  • Treat gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and colon cancer.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, and lab work.
  • Perform or assist with specialized procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy (based on credentialing and scope of practice).
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and specialists (e.g., oncologists) for comprehensive patient care.
  • Analyze patient history and clinical data to guide diagnosis and treatment.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.

Education:

  • PA: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree.
  • NP: Master's or Doctorate in Nursing with certification in Adult, Family, or Acute Care.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Active state license as a PA or NP (New York).
  • National certification (NCCPA for PAs; AANP/ANCC for NPs).
  • DEA registration and state prescriptive authority.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

Experience:

  • Clinical experience in gastroenterology or hepatology preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in performing or assisting with endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic imaging and interpretation.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
