Position Overview:We are seeking experienced and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurses to join our team in a dynamic and highly specialized environment. This is a pipeline position for evening shifts with an anticipated start in upcoming orientation cycles.

As an RN in this setting, you will care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those who are medically fragile or exhibit behavioral challenges. The role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and excellent communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities
• Administer medications, including large med passes (up to 40 patients)
• Float between units based on facility needs; initial orientation to multiple units provided
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, direct support professionals, and therapists
• Maintain clear documentation and adhere to all facility protocols
• Communicate clearly and professionally with staff and residents
• Work every other weekend and float as required

Orientation Details:

• 6-week comprehensive orientation:
  • 2 weeks of classroom education
  • 2 weeks of nursing training
  • 2 weeks with a preceptor
• Held on the 1st and 16th business day of each month, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Qualifications:

• Active Texas RN license or Compact State License (required)
• AHA BLS Certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (no exceptions)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a facility setting working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or medically fragile populations
• Strong experience with high-volume medication administration (nursing home experience preferred)
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• COVID-19 vaccination required

Additional Information:

• Patient ratios average 9-10 per nurse, with adjustments based on patient acuity
• Facility size: 450 beds
• Electronic Medical Records system: IRIS/Cerner
• Onsite parking available
• Scrub requirements: pending confirmation
• No RTO preferred during contract
• Candidates with prior experience at this facility or similar state-supported living centers must be approved for rehire
