MRI Technologist – Elmhurst, NY
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to join our team in Elmhurst, NY. This role is responsible for performing high-quality MRI procedures with a focus on patient safety, accurate imaging, and workflow efficiency. The technologist will screen and prepare patients, operate MRI equipment, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews and screening to ensure MRI safety.
- Verify patient identity using two approved identifiers before each procedure.
- Explain the MRI process and provide clear instructions to patients.
- Safely position patients and operate MRI equipment, adjusting technical factors as needed.
- Ensure patient, staff, and visitor safety within the MRI suite.
- Monitor patients during scans and respond to their needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe MRI environment; clean scanners after each use.
- Perform equipment checks, calibration tests, and report malfunctions.
- Manage supply inventory to support continuous operations.
- Evaluate image quality and accuracy before submission to the radiologist.
- Document patient encounters and imaging results in the EMR.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Valid NYSDOH Radiologic Technologist license.
- ARRT (MRI) or ARMRIT certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of MRI experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Experience with Philips and Client MRI equipment.
- BLS certification (AHA) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety, positioning, and imaging protocols.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (EPIC experience a plus).
Schedule
- Weekdays: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Weekends: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM (alternating weekends required)
- Holidays required.
- Initial training: 2 weeks, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (includes EPIC training).

- Interviews: In-person preferred; virtual available for non-local candidates.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced trauma center environment.
