Pay Rate:$ 60 - $ 64 per on W2
Position Summary: we are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our Blood Bank team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in transfusion medicine, a commitment to quality patient care, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, overnight hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:Perform complex Blood Bank testing including blood typing, antibody screening/identification, crossmatching, and component preparation.Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Blood Bank instrumentation and equipment.Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of quality control, instrument maintenance, and test results.Adhere to all regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, AABB, NYSDOH).Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance/improvement programs, and continuing education.Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and urgent transfusion needs.Work independently during overnight shifts with a high level of accuracy and responsibility.Participate in training and orienting new technologists or students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:Licensure: Valid Clinical Laboratory Technologist license (092) issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Primary source verification required.
Experience: Minimum 2 year of clinical experience working in a Blood Bank.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
Preferred Skills:Strong knowledge of immunohematology and transfusion medicine practices.Familiarity with LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) and Blood Bank software.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
