• Operates and maintains side loader truck.
• Prepares vehicle for daily assignment by performing pre-trip inspections.
• Maintains personal protective equipment and prepares safety equipment to be used during the workday.
• Load and unload all materials from intermodal terminal using side-loader.
• Prepare driver's report at the end of the shift to report any malfunctions with the side loader.
• Cleans cab of assigned side loader equipment at the end of the day and washes equipment as assigned.
• Operates assigned vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with all safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of vehicle safety procedures and practices
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate a side loader vehicle in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to read and follow directions and signs.
• Ability to communicate verbally with supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and customers.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date.
• Read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work full-time, subject to overtime, nights, on-call (24/7), weekends, and holidays.
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Possess valid state-issued driver's license.
• Accurately input data in computer systems.
• Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling.
• Able to perform work on uneven surfaces; frequently climb on/off equipment.
• Able to work in conditions with loud noise and fumes; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand, sit for extended time and use hand tools.
• A minimum of one year of experience operating lift equipment such as side-loader, crane, or forklifts.
