Role Overview
Lead an engineering team collaborating with major silicon companies to optimize Ubuntu across the Linux stack, from kernel to GUI, for the latest hardware. This fast-paced, problem-solving role requires resourcefulness, articulation, and the ability to deliver solutions across PC and IoT technologies. You will work with partner engineers to integrate new features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware.
Responsibilities
- Lead a distributed team to design and implement Ubuntu integration for new IoT and server hardware platforms.
- Engage with partners to deliver an optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Manage commercial engagements and ensure timely project delivery.
- Maintain high quality and reliability standards.
- Coordinate with other Canonical teams on product architecture and roadmaps.
- Work remotely with occasional travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks.
Candidate Profile
- Experience with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance hardware.
- Experience working directly with customers and resolving technical issues.
- Leadership experience managing software engineering teams.
- Understanding of agile methodologies.
- Effective cross-team collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology field.
