Summary:

A Life Science GxP Engineer, Lead is responsible for executing the service delivery plan at the assigned site as well as performs and documents scheduled maintenance and repair services on research and manufacturing (GxP) equipment at pharmaceutical facilities. This includes preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment ranging from simple devices such as water purification, scales/ balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), and Fast protein liquid chromatography, or equivalent instruments.

What you will do:

  • Coordinates site engineering team for service delivery
  • Schedules engineer teams' service events and ensures service events are completed timely
  • Partners with the supervisor and/or directors to communicate and track KPIs and service metrics
  • Generates daily and weekly reports on service events
  • Identifies and tracks parts needs, stocking, and kits
  • Partners with the supervisor and/or directors to identify training needs
  • Performs planned maintenance, repairs, and other verification/qualification services on a variety of laboratory multi-vendor instruments
  • Installs and optimizes hardware/software/network products and configurations at customer sites
  • Manages customer relationships by communicating work performed and providing a follow-up plan as needed
  • Provides accurate and timely completion of service reports, adhering to ALCOA+ practices to ensure data integrity, expense reports and other administrative tasks
  • Communicates and escalate repair diagnostic and information with supervisor and other internal personnel to expedite repairs
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and supervisor to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations, which may impact product performance
  • Follows escalation procedures for challenging service events in an efficient manner and develops a plan for resolution
  • Trains and/or mentors Life Science Engineer colleagues on maintenance of HPLC/UPLC devices
  • Comply to 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, 11, and 820 as the governing regulations for GxP environments and customer SOPs,
  • Comply to ISO17025 and Renovo regulations for Calibrations.
  • Comply to Renovo ethics policy for ISO17025 that supports ensuring the validity of reports, impartiality and confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned by your Manager, including escorting vendors
Qualifications:
  • Experience operating analytical chemistry or related equipment in both a R&D and GxP environment required
  • 3+ years' experience with life science laboratory equipment (e.g. water purification, scales/ balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), and fast protein liquid chromatography, or equivalent instruments)
  • Experience working in a GxP regulated environment required
  • Thorough understanding of ALCOA+ data integrity principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate, as well as Complete, Consistent, Enduring, and Available)
  • Thorough understanding of 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, 11, and 820 as the governing regulations for GxP
  • Ability to quickly learn and use software and other IT tools in performance of services.
  • Understand and be able to calculate uncertainty, deviation, variation, range and tolerance, accuracy and precision and other statistical principals in calibrating and/or qualifying analytical equipment
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical training, servicing a wide-range of instrumentations, and absorbing large amounts of complex data
  • Ability to instill professional confidence to customers with a heightened sense of urgency and sensitivity to GxP environments
Education/Special Training:
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related degree preferred

Safety Requirements:

  • Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the laboratory area in accordance with the facility's policies
  • Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices
  • Ontime completion of safety trainings assignments
Physical Requirements:
  • The Life Sciences GxP Engineer, Lead must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, squat, and twist
  • Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors
  • May be required to stand and/ or kneel for long periods of time while performing duties
  • Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds frequently
