Overview
The Senior Analyst, Life Cycle Assessment is responsible for supporting PepsiCo's greenhouse gas emission mitigation strategy and programs, including attainment of our PepsiCo Positive 2030 and 2050 climate goals. This role will be accountable for technical management and support of PepsiCo's global Scope 3 emission factor program, including: developing new, more specific emission factors; splitting emission factors into life-cycle stages to capture supply chain emission reduction activities and model reduction potential; and supporting our supply chain partners in development of product-specific emission factors. The role will provide important LCA expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders to help inform climate and business strategy and will contribute to engagement with external stakeholders such as suppliers and industry bodies to help develop aligned LCA methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage PEP's global database for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission factors to support external reporting and inform product innovation, supply chain decision-making, and decarbonization planning and investments
- Develop process, system, and training materials for internal stakeholders to access relevant emission factors in an efficient manner
- Support PepsiCo's annual processes such as Scope 3 inventory for external reporting and internal forecasting and planning process for climate goals
- Manage PEP's annual regenerative agriculture GHG reporting, including reviewing and analyzing data from regenerative agriculture and sustainable forestry projects for incorporation into PEP's Scope 3 GHG inventory
- Identify and evaluate new sources for emission factors, work with consultants to develop new emission factors and refine existing factors for procured materials and emerging materials of interest (e.g., bioplastics); focus is on Agriculture and Packaging materials
- Support capability building across functional teams (including Sustainability, Procurement, Global R&D, Commercialization, Design, Consumer Insights, and Marketing) on life-cycle assessment and PEP's emission factor program. Develop and refine internal guidance such as Supplier Product Carbon Footprint requirements and LCA requirements for decarbonization solutions
- Support the development of PepsiCo's strategy to acquire primary data from suppliers. Evaluate suppliers' Product Carbon Footprints and other sources of primary data to develop PepsiCo supply-specific emission factors
- Split the emission factors into life cycle stages to understand drivers and identify the size of opportunity for GHG reductions and removals. Support PepsiCo Climate Solutions team with understanding the emission reduction and removal impact of various decarbonization levers and solutions. Support due diligence of decarbonization solutions and proposals as needed.
- Engage with database providers to ensure that emission factors align with newly revised Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards/guidance
- Engage with industry groups to keep track of and contribute to the development of GHG accounting guidance and standards (e.g., World Business Council for Sustainable Development's Partnership for Carbon Transparency)
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $84,000 - $140,650.

- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 10% of annual salary paid out annually.

Qualifications
Critical Competencies:
- Expertise in life cycle assessment and corporate and product greenhouse gas accounting; understanding of the relationship and interactions between product life cycle assessment and corporate greenhouse gas inventory
- Understanding of allocation approaches in life cycle assessment
- Excellent Excel modelling and data analysis skills
- Proficient in SimaPro
- Excellent project management skills
- Stakeholder engagement skills
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to research and get up to speed quickly on new topics
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Communication/Presentation including excellent PowerPoint presentation development skills

Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences or Engineering or related field; Master's degree a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in life cycle assessment, greenhouse gas accounting or related fields.
- Previous experience in the development and execution of complex programs.
- Experience in agriculture and packaging greenhouse gas accounting a plus.
- Experience working with Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) companies a plus.
