June 20, 2025POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTLibrary Technial Assistant II - ProgrammingCity of The DallesClosing Date: Open Until Filled - First Review June 30, 2025DEFINITION: The Library Technical Assistant II performs professional library activities while sharing responsibility for programming. This position works in an environment within the library with occasional travel related to community engagement and professional development. Some front-desk library circulation tasks and attending to the public with outstanding customer service. This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility in scheduling, as some programs require evening and weekend hours. Required knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications:
  • Ability to develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate for effectiveness a wide range of library programs, with a focus on creativity, audience engagement and customer experience throughout the full process.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and balance many demands while maintaining a focus on positive customer experience and service.
  • Ability to use effective judgment, problem solve, and make sound decisions without direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain community partnerships with individuals, schools, groups, agencies, public officials, and other libraries to enhance service and program delivery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including ability to adapt messaging to meet a variety of audience needs and interests, and to develop and deliver marketing to library audiences.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant library experience is preferred, but all combinations of skills and experience will be evaluated
  • Ability to write grants and implement grant initiatives
  • Experience publishing newsletters and other communications
  • Ability to compile and analyze statistical data

  • Knowledge and experience in programming.
  • Knowledge and experience in the reading, viewing and learning habits of young and older people.
  • Knowledge and experience in reader's advisory and reference.
  • Knowledge and experience with technology and social media.
Training: Keyboarding, computers/technology, and social media CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES: Valid Driver's License required at the time of hire. PAY: Effective July 1, 2025, the salary range for this position is $54,450.95-65,017.30 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The City offers a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision insurance, as well as employer-paid retirement contributions equal to 13.5% of base wage after one year of employment.
