JOB PURPOSE The Library Associate assists the librarians in the development and delivery of the library curriculum and program. The Library Associate works with the library team on all day-to-day operations of the library. Position Title: Library Associate Division: Library FLSA: Exempt Position Status: 10-month employee AIS Position Status: Associate Hours per week: Full Time Reports to: Librarians Starting Date: August 2025 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists other library staff members in the overall day-to-day operation of the library
  • Operates circulation of print materials, including but not limited to the loan, return, reserve, and weeding of materials
  • Assists with shelving of library books and materials daily
  • Assists with the collection development program, including creating reading lists by themes and units of inquiry, cataloging resources, buying resources
  • Develops knowledge of the PYP program to support teaching and learning.
  • Support patrons in learning basic information skills on an informal basis, including the use of the library catalog and LibGuides, online resources
  • Assists with the development and implementation of library programming, primarily during regular library hours, including the library schedule
  • Assists librarians with instruction of information and media skills in the classroom and the library
  • Manage the development and creation of displays and announcements to encourage library usage
  • Assists with data collection and account management on circulations, overdues
  • Assists with informational workshops and presentations for faculty and parents
  • Assists patrons in locating and selecting appropriate materials
  • Assists in maintaining the appropriate use of the library and the behavior of the library users
  • Supports an environment that reflects trust and respect for diversity
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about patrons
  • Performs such other duties as are consistent with the position and assigned by the librarians
  • Participates in professional learning activities that align with school and library improvement goals
  • Participates in professional learning activities designed to enhance technology, information literacy, or library management skills
  • Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the school
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, reach and lift, carry, push or pull light weights
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experienced with and knowledgeable about library organization
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion

  • Enjoys working with students, staff, and parents in an educational setting
  • Has strong computer skills and familiarity with Google applications
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions and file alphabetically and numerically with speed and accuracy
