CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY - ONSITE - Hopkins, SC.

The Safety & Permit Coordinator will report directly to the LEU+ Construction Manager and will collaborate closely with the EPC Contractor, CFFF Maintenance, LEU+ Engineering, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to ensure that all construction activities are performed in compliance with the project EH&S requirements and permitting conditions, and in accordance with safety procedures and directives.

The Safety & Permit Coordinator will work on a variety of safety and permitting duties to ensure that the project EH&S requirements and construction permit requirements are effectively implemented and executed within procedures and processes, as defined by Westinghouse. The coordinator will ensure that all necessary permits and licenses are in place to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the coordinator will liaise with regulatory agencies and facilitate communication between various stakeholders to guarantee smooth and timely project execution.

This role will maintain safety and permit oversight of the project during construction of the building and installation of the manufacturing process, and during commissioning through turnover to operations.

This onsite position will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permits and safety regulations, as well as related company policies and procedures, for all field activities supporting the construction of the LEU+ fuel fabrication facility at CFFF. The primary objective is to develop and sustain an incident and injury-free construction work site, while maintaining compliance with required permits and licenses. The coordinator will maintain a visible presence in the field to represent Westinghouse safety and compliance culture, working with employees and subcontractors on safety practices to ensure they are used, reflect industry best practices, meet regulatory requirements, and promote a Safety Conscious Work Environment and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture.

• Assist in the development of a project safety program that reflects industry best practices and meets regulatory requirements, promoting a Safety Conscious Work Environment and Nuclear Safety Culture.
• Ensure safety programs of EPC Contractor and subcontractors align with Westinghouse EH&S, OSHA, and relevant standards.
• Work with Superintendents and Construction Managers to ensure safety documentation, signage, and equipment are in place.
• Participate in hazard assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and daily walk-downs, addressing violations immediately.
• Communicate safety concerns to leadership, maintain records, and collaborate with project teams to integrate safety into all activities.
• Ensure proper PPE use, stay updated on safety regulations, and support emergency response planning.
• Engage in OSHA investigations, subcontractor safety meetings, and serve as liaison to medical personnel.
• Provide safety feedback, coaching, and conduct equipment evaluations.
• Support safety meetings, subcontractor briefings, and safety orientations.

• Research, manage, and monitor permits and licenses, ensuring compliance and timely approvals.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, maintain records, and communicate permit requirements and updates to teams.

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 15 years of occupational health and safety experience, including 3 in nuclear, and 10 in construction safety.
• Experience in engineering, procurement, and operations, preferably in nuclear.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA 30-hour certification, excellent communication skills, risk assessment, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in permit tracking software, able to work collaboratively, and willing to obtain and maintain a US Nuclear Security Clearance.
