To efficiently manage the Lending Department to include consumer, mortgage, loan servicing, and home equity loans by maximizing income, minimizing expenses and to minimize the inherent risks associated with lending. To create and adhere to an annual budget for the departments. To promote, maintain and support a sales culture that focuses on fulfilling the members' needs while meeting Credit Union goals and objectives. To ensure that the department operates efficiently, by managing employee performance, to include annual reviews, salary adjustments and cross training. To implement product/service changes when necessary and to introduce new products and services. To comply with all federal, state, local laws and regulations. To comply with Credit Union board approved policies and procedures.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Promotes a sales/service culture that incents employees to focus on fulfilling the members' needs, while meeting the objectives dictated by asset/liability management and controlling the inherent risks associated with lending within a set timeline. Manage loan pipelines to ensure loans are completed in a timely manner.
  • Efficiently manages the department and the employees to attain Credit Union objectives and goals and to ensure compliance with all regulations, and board approved procedures and policies. Reviews and manages policies and procedures to ensure all are up to date. Responsible for board reporting.
  • Works with other departments as necessary to achieve success or minimize risks. Works with the compliance department to coordinate lending audits and provides requested information for the compliance department to provide to auditors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements

  • To implement, maintain, and supports a successful sales/service culture.
  • To create and adhere to an annual budget which includes loan balance, income, and expense projections.
  • To develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancement s to products, pricing, and processes by monitoring trends in operations.
  • To demonstrate a knowledge of all lending products and rates, both within the Credit Union and from the industry overall.
  • To insure all lending activities and approved loans comply with established policies and regulations.
  • To maintain an efficient/accurate servicing department which is capable of handling portfolio loans as well as those sold in the secondary market and participations.
  • To hire, direct, and motivate a highly qualified staff sufficient to meet the daily operational needs of the department.
  • To ensure quality service is being provided by the employees to all members.
  • Ensuring that employees are representing themselves in a professional manner and are processing loans and other requests efficiently and accurately
  • Monitor employees that are working remotely to ensure they are representing themselves in a professional manner and are processing loans and other requests efficiently and accurately by evaluating phone reports, periodic call screening, and reviewing application queues & reports.
  • To complete performance evaluations in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of similar or related experience. Management experience is a plus.
  • A college degree or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills

1. Must have analytical/judgmental skills.

2.Must possess sales/service skills.

3.Must have an NMLS license or ability to obtain the certification

4.Must have working knowledge of regulations affecting consumer loans, collections, mortgage loans, and credit cards.

5.Must be able to read and understand mortgage appraisals, title work, surveys, credit reports, FNMA regulations and FNMA pricing.

6.Must have good communication and supervisory skills.

7.Must have working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; be able to use PC and general office equipment including 1'key calculator.

8.Must have written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

This position mostly operates from a desk. Physical activity is generally limited to lifting small boxes or items less than 20 lbs. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Typical office environment.
