Legal & Business Operations Associate
The Legal & Business Operations Associate manages the firm's commercial terms process and supports broader legal, compliance, and operational initiatives. Partnering with consultants and cross-functional teams, this individual oversees client agreements, liaises with outside counsel, and helps maintain firmwide legal and business standards. This individual will report directly to the CFO.
Role Objectives
- Drafting, negotiating, and managing all client contracts, ensuring alignment with the firm's commercial principles and any client-specific pre-agreed terms.
- Owning the full lifecycle of commercial agreements (client, supplier, and employee), including drafting, negotiation, execution, tracking key terms (e.g., termination dates, cancellation, off-limits), and ensuring timely countersignature.
- Setting up and maintaining systems for tracking and reporting contract data, including tailored reporting for leadership forums (e.g., OpCom, GCM, Town Hall, AGM).
- Serving as a firmwide point of contact for terms-related questions and developing internal training to build employee familiarity with contract processes and best practices.
- Reviewing and updating standard terms to ensure commercial viability and risk mitigation; advising OpCom on negotiation trends and emerging issues.
- Managing relationships with outside counsel, building and maintaining a trusted network of legal advisors to support decision-making.
- Overseeing broader legal and governance matters, including risk management, insurance, and compliance.
- Supporting firmwide legal operations, including HR initiatives (e.g., employee handbook, compliance), technology-related compliance (e.g., GDPR), and operational matters (e.g., lease reviews, vendor agreements).
- Acting as a culture carrier, upholding the firm's standards of professionalism and commercial integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (e.g., in Business, Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field); a law degree (e.g., JD or LLB) or paralegal background is strongly preferred.
- 03 years of professional experience in a client-facing, legal, operations, or administrative role; experience in a professional services environment strongly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in reviewing and drafting documents.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to confidently engage in constructive debate and discussion with clients and stakeholders.
- Must be commercially minded and outgoing.
