Position Overview:MWH Law Group LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our associate and partner-level attorneys. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and values teamwork, professionalism, and high-quality client service. Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with attorneys, clients and other firm staff to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Manage extensive calendaring and monitor internal and external case deadlines.
- Prepare medical records, pharmacy records, medical invoices, payroll records and tax return requests and upon receipt, checking them for completion, making follow up requests as necessary.
- Manage hard copy and electronic case files.
- Prepare file-related correspondence to court, opposing counsel and third parties.
- Prepare and follow up on document requests from client, opposing party and third parties.
- File motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Draft legal documents, including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits/statements and written discovery requests and responses.
- Oversee all document production.
- Assist attorney with all phases of fact investigation, discovery, trial, and post-trial procedures.
- Perform administrative duties such as copying, faxing, scanning, and mailing documents.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in legal studies, executive administrative support, or a related field preferred; a bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Prior experience as a legal assistant in a law firm setting is preferred but not required.
- Candidates with the right skillset, professionalism, and willingness to learn will be considered and can be trained for success in this role.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Word (with advanced skills such as redlining, creating tables, and hyperlinking documents).
- Excellent calendar management skills.
- Familiarity with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative approach: skilled at gaining cooperation, communicating clearly, and maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Active listener: able to understand key points, ask relevant questions, and avoid untimely interruptions.
- Detail-oriented: consistently accurate, thorough, and attentive-even under pressure.
- Highly organized: able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and see projects through.
- Proactive and adaptable: takes initiative, follows procedures, learns quickly, and looks for ways to improve processes.
