Description Adjunct Faculty Role: Adjunct Faculty are essential for curricular delivery in the Baylor Occupational Therapy Program(s). This is primarily achieved during onsite lab immersions but may also be conducted via synchronous or asynchronous lectures. Each adjunct brings essential knowledge, skills, and abilities of contemporary expertise to their course(s). Adjunct Faculty demonstrate competence in teaching and implementing strategies for student success by delivering assigned courses/objectives in a manner that facilitates student learning and mastery of course material. Primary Functions: Teaching is the primary responsibility of Adjunct Faculty. The functions of adjunct faculty may include some or all of the following depending on the terms and condition of their appointment:
  • Meet deadlines and follow directions of the lead course instructor(s), Program and Department leadership, and the Dean/Associate Dean of the College.
  • Demonstrate a command of the discipline and skill in presenting it effectively in the context of an integrated education.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records on student participation and performance, use appropriate measures and evaluate student performance based on established student learning outcomes, provide timely feedback to students and assign grades that are an accurate and fair evaluation of student work.
  • Submit grades and any other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Teach assigned courses and tasks in accordance with the Program's approved course description and competency-based student learning outcomes.
  • Incorporate appropriate teaching-learning strategies, technologies, and assessment methods for evaluation of student learning into the course.
  • Integrate information literacy and writing into courses as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate Core Faculty and the Program Director to identify and address student issues as appropriate.
  • Adhere to professional and ethical standards of conduct.
  • Maintain current professional certification and licensure requirements within the specific discipline.
  • Maintain professional practice knowledge base and clinical expertise needed to help learners prepare for contemporary occupational therapy practice.
  • Use current research findings and scholarly works in Occupational therapy to improve Occupational therapy education and practice.
  • Promote professionalism by modeling and encouraging professional behaviors inside and outside the educational setting.
  • Assist in all course related activities and complete other duties as assigned by the lead course instructor(s).
  • Secondary Functions: These expectations do not apply to all adjunct faculty positions:
  • Plan and deliver individual classes via distance education or face-to-face lab instruction that conform to the syllabus and other requirements of the University.
  • Develop a syllabus of course activities that meet the requirements of the course description or program chair, establish appropriate student learning outcomes, and provide for appropriate class activities throughout the semester.
  • Participate in course, curriculum, and program assessment activities.
  • Meet all scheduled classes and adhere to the academic schedule, which includes final exam times and other program-related testing.

Qualifications Minimum:
    • Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant license in good standing.
    • Licensed Occupational Therapist with a master's degree from an accredited institution with appropriate advanced practice experience will be considered for this position.
    • Texas Occupational Therapy license in good standing. Must have at least applied for a Texas license, if not already obtained, before December 20, 2025.
    Preferred:
    • Doctoral degree or its equivalent in the appropriate discipline from an accredited institution.
    • Current certification as an OTR or COTA.
    Additional Skills:
    • Exhibited evidence of continued professional growth and development.
    • Demonstrated commitment to using innovative instructional techniques and technologies and course management systems.
