About the Job
The Creative Writing Program in the Department of English at the College of Liberal Arts is seeking lecturers or teaching specialists for courses in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. This pool will be used to fill potential openings throughout the academic year, primarily for introductory undergraduate courses, with instruction mainly in person, day or evening.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing and teaching classes to facilitate student learning Creating Canvas course sites and syllabi in accordance with policies Staying current in the field Holding office hours and responding to student inquiries Evaluating student work and assigning grades Communicating evaluation processes and departmental updates Following university policies and participating in trainings Attending departmental meetings and submitting review materials Qualifications
Lecturer:
- MFA or PhD
- At least one year of college teaching experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Two or more years of college teaching experience
- Broad familiarity with creative writing and literature
- One published book or in press
Teaching Specialist:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least one year of college teaching experience
Preferred qualifications:
- M.A. in English or related field
- Two or more years of college teaching experience
- Broad familiarity with creative writing and literature
- One published book or in press
Applicants with a BA or MA will be hired as teaching specialists; those with an MFA or PhD as lecturers.
