Lease Analyst Tech – Job DescriptionScout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates and improves upstream conventional oil and gas and associated midstream properties for institutional investors. Scout's business is both the management of private energy funds and the operation of the oil and gas assets it owns. Current employee base is approximately 1200 with 200 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office.

Lease Analyst Tech – Job DescriptionScout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates and improves upstream conventional oil and gas and associated midstream properties for institutional investors. Scout's business is both the management of private energy funds and the operation of the oil and gas assets it owns. Current employee base is approximately 1200 with 200 employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office.Scout is seeking an experienced Lease Analyst. This position will report to Scout's Land Manager and Lead Lease Analyst as a part of our Land Department.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and provide support for Landman team
  • Set up and analyze leases, mineral deeds, contracts, and surface agreements
  • Interpret complex lease provisions and how they impact operations, divests and other agreements
  • Review previous operators' files, datasheets and title to add pertinent info to ODL
  • Prepare monthly rental, expiration and obligation reports
  • Notify landman of all upcoming expirations, options to extend and obligations for leases, mineral deeds, surface agreements, contracts
  • Provide landman with forecasts for rentals, obligations, and expirations
  • Review assignments as soon as acquisition is complete. Notify Landman of any errors on assignments that will need correction
  • Prepare exhibits for divests, mortgages, PA expansions etc.
  • Conduct lease maintenance
    • Update acreage and depth restrictions due to termination (pugh clause) language in lease. Notify Landman if any releases need to be filed in county records
    • Update property status when well status changes (new drills, shut in wells, plugged wells) Update lease record to show lease could be in lease jeopardy (1 well left holding the lease)
    • Must verify production to ensure lease is maintained
    • Review leases for shut in provisions and calculate shut in payments
  • Review, prepare and mail rental and shut in checks
  • Conduct title research
Skills & Specifications
  • Thorough understanding of lease obligation functions in a Land Department
  • Competent Excel and Word software skills
  • Strong knowledge of terms in operating and unit agreements, spacing orders, communalization agreements, and other types of Land agreements
  • Communicate well, verbally and in writing, with other departments and parties making inquiries
  • Self-Motivated and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Work well with others and with minimal supervision
Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field a plus, but not required
  • CPLTA certification a plus
  • 5 + years' experience in a Lease Records Analyst role
  • Use of ODL System a plus
