General Summary: The Learning & Development Specialist will play a key role in building a culture of continuous learning and performance excellence across the credit union. This role is responsible for assessing training needs, developing targeted learning programs, and delivering effective training solutions that enhance individual and organizational performance. This position reports directly to the SVP/Chief Human Resources Officer and partners closely with the HR Generalist, Systems Training & Process Improvement Specialist, and all department managers. Key Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conducts training needs analyses through surveys, interviews, and consultation with managers to identify and prioritize learning gaps.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers training programs and materials (e.g., in-person workshops, e-learning, job aids) tailored to meet organizational objectives and individual development goals.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics; refines programs based on outcomes.
  • Partners with the CHRO, HR Generalist and other team members to support an engaging and comprehensive onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Collaborates with the Systems Training & Process Improvement Specialist to ensure consistency and alignment of training with technology initiatives and process improvements.
  • Coordinates with HR Generalist to track training participation and outcomes and provides feedback and/or reports for management review.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and best practices in learning and talent development, particularly in the financial services sector.
  • Supports the administration of annual, ad hoc and ongoing compliance training.
  • Travels to branch locations up to 30% of the time to deliver training, observe operations, and build relationships with employees.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards to work effectively with members, co-workers, management, and vendors. Demonstrates the Credit Union's core values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, and Responsibility.
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments including but not limited to changes in regulations and technology.
  • Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures and Banking/Credit Union Regulations.
  • Performs additional duties or special projects as required.
  • Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, Communications or a related field strongly preferred. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPTD, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) a plus.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in training and development, with experience in a bank or credit union environment strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to assess training needs, design effective learning programs, and measure results.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse learning styles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 environment specifically Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to training in the financial services sector is a plus.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 30%.
