We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Black Belt II to join our team at Deaconess Health System. This high-impact role is responsible for leading enterprise-wide performance improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, A3 problem-solving, and related methodologies. The Black Belt II will serve as a mentor, educator, and project lead, working across departments to drive quantifiable improvements in quality, efficiency, and service.

The Black Belt II is responsible for leading and executing Lean Six Sigma projects and facilitating change management initiatives across the organization. The role is critical in promoting a culture of continuous improvement by developing training programs, mentoring Green and Yellow Belts, and applying analytical tools to solve operational problems. Working collaboratively with leaders across all service lines, the Black Belt II delivers sustainable results that align with strategic goals.
Job Overview:Lead Lean and Six Sigma projects using methodologies such as DMAIC, A3, and Change Acceleration Process
Define project scope, gather data, conduct analysis, and implement data-driven solutions
Mentor Green, Yellow, and White Belt project leaders; provide support and coaching to advance their projects
Develop and deliver Lean Six Sigma training materials tailored to various belt levels
Serve as an internal consultant to hospital teams seeking performance improvement guidance
Identify process inefficiencies, assess root causes, and implement sustainable improvements
Support the integration of performance improvement initiatives across departments and product lines
Translate successful project outcomes into scalable strategies for system-wide adoption
Adhere to internal standards of conduct and HIPAA compliance
Education & Experience
Master's degree or Engineering degree required
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in process improvement (required)
Licensure & Certifications
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from a recognized program (required)
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Advanced statistical analysis capabilities and familiarity with tools such as Minitab
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Knowledge of statistical and mathematical principles, including ANOVA, correlation, sampling theory, and reliability analysis
Ability to develop and interpret dashboards, graphs, and process maps
Skilled in technical writing and documentation of project findings and training content
Experience managing multiple high-priority projects in complex healthcare environments
Ability to present data and recommendations in a clear, understandable format for stakeholders
