Position Summary
The Lean Site Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Lean strategies and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site. This role partners closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence through the use of Lean methodologies, cultural transformation, and structured problem-solving. The Lean Site Manager facilitates enterprise-level improvement programs that align with strategic objectives and deliver measurable results across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People metrics.
- Lead site-wide implementation of Lean tools and principles aligned with enterprise goals.
- Partner with leadership to integrate Lean into strategic planning and daily operations.
- Manage large-scale, cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead Kaizen events and facilitate Value Stream Mapping, 5S, A3 thinking, and other Lean activities.
- Coaching & Capability Building:
- Mentor managers, supervisors, and frontline employees in Lean concepts and behaviors.
- Develop and deliver training programs to build Lean capabilities across the organization.
- Performance Measurement & Reporting:
- Define, track, and analyze KPIs tied to operational performance (SQDCP).
- Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership teams.
- Change Management & Culture Building:
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability at all organizational levels.
- Inspire engagement and sustainment of improvements through influence and communication.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Engage with value stream owners, engineering, quality, and supply chain to align improvement priorities.
- Serve as the primary site contact for enterprise Lean efforts and best practice sharing.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Coordinate with external partners including suppliers and customers as needed to support Lean initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field; Master's degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
- Lean Certification required; Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience leading Lean initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success managing cross-functional operational improvement projects with measurable outcomes.
- Experience coaching others through Lean transformation and sustaining process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems, project management software, and data visualization tools.
- Functional leadership experience, including indirect team supervision or mentoring.
- Strong technical knowledge in manufacturing processes, data analytics, and workflow optimization.
- Exceptional leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
- High-level project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs; bend, stoop, kneel, push/pull up to 50 lbs; stand/sit/walk for 8+ hours daily.
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity (correctable to 20/20) required.
- Domestic travel up to 50%; limited international travel may be required.
