Basic Job Functions:
Supervises and leads assigned shift engineering and maintenance technicians in repairing and controlling module equipment to meet safety, quality, yield, and throughput goals efficiently.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of supervisory experience with 2 years of technical work in manufacturing, maintenance, or engineering, OR
- High school diploma or GED plus 5 years of technical experience at First Solar, OR
- Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, or electrical fields with no experience.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Electrical and Mechanical knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of Vacuum and Thermal systems, Wet Chemistry, Programming/Logic, and Mechanical operation is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing processes, engineering controls, and equipment is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to manage production staff effectively, analyze data, and apply structural problem-solving tools like 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, and DMAIC.
- Knowledge of safety and quality systems (ISO standards, OSHA).
- Familiarity with Asset Management and Maintenance applications such as Maximo, SAP, or Oracle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and analysis software.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Manage shift uptime, process control, and escalation procedures.
- Supervise troubleshooting and repair of module equipment, ensuring readiness for production.
- Plan and supervise daily work schedules for technicians.
- Ensure process records, process monitoring, and quality standards are maintained.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and respond to SPC alarms.
- Enforce safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Coordinate with other departments and manage timely project completion.
- Handle employee relations, training, and development.
- Oversee maintenance system compliance and shift staffing.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal and other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to the Area Manager - Module.
- Has direct reports.
Travel:
Estimated Salary Range:
- $78,600 - $112,000 annually
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, push, pull, and wear PPE as required.
