Saab Inc., within its Land Systems division, is on the lookout for a seasoned Lead Systems Engineer to become a key member of our System Engineering, Integration and Test team. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will leverage your extensive experience in Department of Defense products, especially in weapon systems, to effectively tackle system engineering challenges independently. This role necessitates close collaboration with project and program leadership, business development, and engineering teams across various divisions and locations, both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop, and break down threat, mission, system deployment, and product requirements, utilizing limited customer inputs along with existing product availability and division strategies.
  • Conduct functional analysis and allocate requirements to lower-level elements, adhering to established defense and aerospace industry standards.
  • Create detailed system test and evaluation plans, outlining evaluation criteria, necessary resources, suppliers, facilities, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with program leadership, engineering, operations, and other key functions to provide technical oversight during product development and production.
  • Engage with customers, including the US Government and industry partners, to identify feasible initiatives and solutions for product requirements.
  • Work alongside product design authorities to devise optimal solutions for identified problems, ensuring effective communication with suppliers, customers, and team members.
  • Lead small teams dedicated to engineering development, integration, and demonstration projects.
  • Contribute to proposal efforts, technical documentation, and reviews.
  • Support various division and inter-division initiatives.
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of junior engineers.

Compensation Range: $112,900 - $146,800

This compensation range serves as a guideline, with factors such as role responsibilities, location, market conditions, and candidates' experience and skills influencing final offers.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 8 years of experience or Master of Science in Engineering with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with DoD and defense/aerospace industry engineering processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency in requirements development, decomposition, interface definitions, and verification through testing.
  • Practical experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) and tools like Cameo, DOORS, Agile, or Jira.
  • Strong communication skills with leadership, peers, and subordinates.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal direction.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance (minimum Secret clearance preferred).
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically, approximately 15% of the time.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with weapon systems in various domains (land, air, sea), including their design and life cycle management.
  • A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is favorable.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Selected applicants may undergo a government security investigation and must be eligible for access to classified information.
