Systems Engineer Location: Springfield, VA Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to serve as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) enterprise Subject Matter Expert and team lead. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of DHS' Cross Domain Access Solution across the DHS enterprise. Primary Responsibilities Leadership & StrategyLead and manage a team supporting Cross Domain technology, providing technical guidance and mentorshipDevelop comprehensive engineer strategies in coordination with DHS Cross Domain Solutions Program ManagerCreate and implement cross domain deployment strategies that minimize user impactDesign and execute training strategies to ensure team's proficiency in system operations and maintenance Technical OperationsInstall, configure, and deploy cross domain solution to production environmentMaintain and operate infrastructure systems include RHEL, Hyper-V, and Windows serversOversee VPN configurations on Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA)Perform regular updates of virtual hard drives (VHD) and ISO filesProvide advanced technical support for complex issuesServe as the escalation point for challenging technical problems Security & ComplianceAuthor Site Security Plans for security accreditationPrepare and submit Authority To Operate (ATO) documentationEnsure compliance with DHS security standards and protocols Cross-functional CollaborationBuild and maintain relationships with HEITS Operations and Engineering teamsParticipate in Change Control Board meetings and demonstrationsPresent capabilities to stakeholders and technical teams Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldExtensive experience with cross-domain solutionsStrong knowledge of Cisco ASA and VPN technologiesProven leadership experience managing technical teamsExperience with security accreditation processes and ATO documentationExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication and presentation abilities Preferred QualificationsRelevant security certificationsExperience working within DoD/IC agenciesBackground in enterprise system deployment and managementKnowledge of change management processesKnowledge of SecureView CDS Founded in 2008, Ortman Consulting LLC is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and 8(a) company based in Alexandria, VA.
