Lead Swim Instructor - US Swim School Association : Job Details

Compensation and benefits (dependent on the franchise owner):

• $18-20 / hr with guarantee of 12 hrs/week (off on Fridays and Saturdays!)

The Position:

The Lead Instructor's number one priority is on teaching children and adults water survival and stroke development at British Swim School. They also work with the Aquatics Manager to ensure that all instructors are knowledgeable and confident on teaching the lessons, and able to be in the water as required themselves. This position may also assist with tracking required certifications for instructors as well as continuing the employee's development and competency and skills.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

• Follow British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons.
• Establish and maintain relationships with students' parents and/or guardians.
• Teach British Swim School lessons with encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Help train each new instructors on the British Swim School aquatics program.
• Help maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Work evening and weekend hours as determined by business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current Red Cross or Starguard Lifeguard certification or willingness to earn one within 90 days of hiring
• Ability to instruct swimming lessons within a structured program.
• Willing to undergo a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Comfortable in and around the water. Previous swimming experience.
• Excellent communication skills with children, families and management team.
• Experience working with children.

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
