Natera is currently seeking a Lead/Staff Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics Research Team focused on Epigenomics in Oncology. Natera's mission is to change the management of disease worldwide by using information gained from a simple blood draw to detect disease early and proactively inform treatment. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in algorithm development, genomics, sequencing data processing, and/or applied machine learning. The individual will serve as a technical lead for various algorithm and machine learning model development projects. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer detection; fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence; working closely with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to solve challenging problems; contributing to experimental design and ensuring data integrity and quality control; acting as technical lead during various phases of research and product development; mentoring and training other bioinformatics scientists. Qualifications include a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a strong focus on cancer epi/genomics; minimum of 6-10 years of experience in bioinformatics including algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning; deep understanding of sequencing data; familiarity with public databases such as TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB; experience in Python; experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts; ability to visualize findings and summarize results for both technical and non-technical audiences; high scientific rigor and eagerness to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology. The pay range is $184,300 - $230,450 USD, with actual compensation packages based on various factors including skill set, experience, certifications, and office location.
