Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Consumer Software Engineering focuses on front-end development for Disney's consumer-facing apps across platforms like iOS, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and web browsers.

As a member of our web team, you'll build engaging experiences on our core streaming product, partnering with various teams to lead product features from ideation to deployment. You'll be surrounded by colleagues eager to help you succeed in an ambitious, impactful culture.

The Lead Software Engineer will serve as a technical resource and problem solver across teams, identifying opportunities to improve systems, products, and services.

Responsibilities

• Lead large initiatives, architect, and develop core site functionality using JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS.
• Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Amazon Web Services.
• Collaborate with Product and Senior Leadership on new features and research technologies.
• Apply industry standards to enhance performance and scalability.
• Establish code quality standards and review pull requests.
• Mentor and support the growth of senior engineers.
• Support and maintain production streaming applications at a global scale.

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in building scalable web applications for millions of users.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• Experience architecting technical solutions and gaining consensus.
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies: JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, NodeJS, AWS.
• Experience with modern JavaScript workflows and tools like Git, Webpack, etc.
• Proven ability to research and implement solutions collaboratively.
• Leadership skills to manage projects from start to finish.
• Ability to write well-documented, high-quality code with tests.
• Adaptability to learn new technologies and troubleshoot complex problems.
• Supportive of mentoring and team development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with streaming video, large data applications, and analytics.
• Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, observability, and web performance metrics.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs.

The salary range varies by location, with specific figures provided for Santa Monica, Bristol, Seattle, New York, and San Francisco. Compensation may include bonuses and benefits, depending on the role and region.
