Lead Respiratory Therapist Full Time, Flexible Day - Evening Hours $50/hr + Shift Differential if/as applicable The Lead Respiratory Therapist ensures resident care needs are met, coordinates staffing and assists with equipment maintenance and managing respiratory care supplies while also performing the duties of a respiratory therapist. Requirements for a Lead Respiratory Therapist:
- Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Outlook and the use of an Electronic Health Record (Point Click Care or others)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree in field of Respiratory Therapy
- Specialized training, license, certification, skills: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- At least 1 year of job related experience, specifically in Respiratory Therapy, with supervisor experience as a Therapist or within another health related area.
Responsibilities for Lead Respiratory Therapist:
- Clinical Practice
- Provide clinical guidance and support to staff on various respiratory care procedures, including ventilator management.
- Actively participate with interdisciplinary team for development of resident care plans and review of resident respiratory care goals.
- Provide direct resident care, including assessments, treatment planning and medication administration as part of regular shifts.
- Review and participate in admissions process for potential admissions that require mechanical ventilation.
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge by acting as a clinical resource to staff and consultant to nursing department.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures and standard of care guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication with Interdisciplinary Care Team, Medical Providers, Director of Nursing and Administrator.
- May participate in new hire orientation and training of facility staff on respiratory care standards.
- Provide shift coverage as needed.
- Coordinate and participate in the transportation of residents to medical appointments or special events
- Routinely collaborate with Director of Nursing and Administrator on program initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing and Administrator.
Supervision of Personnel - Oversee and directs shift activities, including assigning tasks, managing workload and ensuring adequate staffing.
- Participate in interview of candidates who have appropriate clinical skills and professional characteristics to match program needs.
- Communicate on an ongoing basis with employees regarding specific performance expectations.
- Ensure staff documentation is maintained in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Interact with staff in a consistent, fair, timely, appropriate and decisive manner.
- Coordinate the education and orientation processes for Respiratory Care Services employees, including routine monitoring of competencies of care practices.
Management of Resources - Collaborate on the development and implementation of program initiatives and change in practices.
- Monitor department equipment and product par levels, troubleshoot equipment and actively work with organization purchasing department and outside equipment vendors as needed.
