- Evaluates technical and economic factors to recommend sampling techniques and develop optimum manufacturing processes to meet design objectives and customer specifications and improve manufacturing system.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design or test problems.
- Develops methods and procedures for testing materials, machines, and systems, and for sampling parts.
- Coordinates designs of experiments, process capability studies, and statistical process control analysis.
- Resolves process related problems.
- Communicates with Planning and Engineering personnel to ensure efficient production methods.
- Reviews quality issues with supervisory personnel, initiating corrective action.
- Interacts with customers to help develop manufacturing objectives.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of operation of molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensures successful process implementation of all cavity pressure sensors in applicable molds.
Lead Function:
- Oversees daily schedule in Process Engineering.
- Reviews Sample Requests and assigns sample runs to Process Engineers.
- Reviews completed sample requests for acceptance and accuracy.
Training:
- Develops training information for and trains Process Technicians and Setup personnel.
- Coordinates, schedules, and executes internal process class training for all required personnel.
Reviews Tooling:
- Attends tooling, release groom, and layout meetings to offer costing input.
- Signs off on new tooling approvals.
SKILLS:
- Four years college or university degree; four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must attain Master Molder I or equivalent.
- Continuous education as required to keep current with modern technology.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and vendors in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, graphical, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers for computer keyboard and to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to inspect plastic parts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employeefrequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, the environment is sometimes hot and humid.
