The Lead Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in the completion of the bi-weekly payroll, providing general guidance for Payroll Specialists, and providing general assistance and back up support to the Payroll Manager.
Job Relationships
Reports to the Payroll Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
- Process employee payroll.
- Process physician reimbursements for approval and payment.
- Review employee reimbursements.
- Post to the General Ledger.
- Prepare monthly billings for shared space utilities.
- Prepare and upload payroll and reimbursement files to the bank.
- Review garnishments mailings and setup in payroll system.
- Assist the payroll staff with questions/problems within scope of responsibility.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of existing and new payroll staff as needed.
- Assist Manager of Payroll with daily work assignments.
- Function as a resource to the Manager of Payroll to organize special projects and audits to meet the goals set by Springfield Clinic.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Associate degree or college courses in Accounting preferred.
- General accounting/payroll experience required.
- EXCEL/Word Experience required.

- Required to attend in-service classes or workshops relevant to job.
- Confidentiality required.
- Must behave in a professional manner at all times.
- Must exercise good human relation skills in all associations with other departments.
