Lead Packaging Systems Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will lead and support the mechanical design efforts on paper converting and packaging systems projects, ensuring the execution of capital projects within defined scopes, costs, and schedules. Your expertise will be crucial in developing concepts, preparing detailed design packages, and interfacing with clients and vendors. Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the mechanical design effort on converting and packaging line projects.
- Execute capital projects within scopes, costs, and schedules.
- Develop concepts, deliverables, effort hours, and estimated cost for engineering proposals.
- Prepare systems analysis and conceptual designs, layouts, specify equipment, and prepare detailed design packages for bid and installation on converting and packaging projects.
- Delegate design work and hold team members accountable.
- Perform QAQC of design packages.
- Interface with clients and vendors on regular basis.
- Work as part of a collaborative project team.
- Work in a manufacturing environment gathering field data and conducting field investigations, when required for project work.
- Solicit and review equipment bids.
- Lead design reviews, internally and with client.
- Provide startup support and troubleshooting on installed systems.
- Travel to other client offices or client customer locations will be regularly required (anticipate 25-35% annually).
- Coach and mentor other engineers and designers is expected.
Required Qualifications:
- BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- 10+ years of industry-relevant experience in engineering of consumer products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience with integration systems and systems engineering in consumer towel and tissue products and/or paper converting/packaging systems, to include experience developing system concepts, executing final system designs, and developing written line operations strategies.
- Conveyor application experience
- Knowledge of Web Handling (unwind, rewind, cutting, printing) - towel and tissue
- Analyzing and designing utilities to support converting systems.
- AutoCAD
- 3D design software.
- Simulation software (FlexSim, Plant Simulation)
- Autodesk Navisworks, ReCap
- Understanding of balanced line flow for converting and packaging systems.
