Job Summary

The Lead Intake Coordinator assists patients and referral sources in making arrangements for timely access to treatment services. Responsibilities include conducting pre-admission screenings, recording intake and insurance data, managing communication, verifying insurance, maintaining records, and guiding other intake staff to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and families, explain the intake process, and answer questions about treatment.
  • Treat clients, families, and staff with respect and dignity; understand addiction as a disease.
  • Explain levels of care offered concisely to clients and referral sources.
  • Screen for exclusionary criteria such as active psychosis or suicidal/homicidal ideation.
  • Call Charge Nurse for serious medical issues and follow medical orders.
  • Document intake information accurately in systems like Salesforce and Aura.
  • Alert Clinical Managers about follow-up referral sources.
  • Maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Schedule last-minute intakes with flexibility.
  • Handle valuables and money according to procedures, document, and secure valuables.
  • Communicate with insurance representatives, verify benefits, and document details accurately.
  • Lead daily operations of the intake team, ensuring efficient processing of referrals.
  • Act as a point of contact for inquiries, verify insurance coverage, and provide staff training.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Interpersonal skills, computer literacy, knowledge of chemical dependency and 12-step programs, and experience in substance abuse treatment are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, use hands, talk, hear, and smell continually; stand, walk, reach; lift up to 25 lbs occasionally; see clearly for computer work and driving if required.

All positions require a TST, MMR Titer, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check.
