Brief Summary:
The Lead Field Service Technician is responsible for ensuring quality and completing service work at solar PV installations in California. This includes corrective and preventative maintenance on PV electrical equipment. The technician must work safely, document daily reports, communicate with team members, handle warranty claims, troubleshoot electrical systems, perform system diagnoses, repairs, and equipment installations. Travel to multiple sites is required, with infrequent overnight stays.
Essential Functions:
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on solar installations.
- Inspect and repair electrical systems and communications.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment onsite and communicate solutions.
- Install electrical equipment and test connections.
- Interpret construction drawings and electrical diagrams.
- Prepare material requisitions and respond to emergency maintenance.
- Provide daily reports and document issues and resolutions.
- Maintain company vehicle and tools.
- Attend training sessions and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required:
- Active California Journeyman Electrician Certification or enrollment in CA Electrical Trainee Program (or equivalent).
- 5-10 years' experience in construction or related trades.
- Ability to install and repair electrical systems and troubleshoot communication systems.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with power tools and electrical equipment.
- Proficiency in digital platforms and communication tools.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and interested in renewable energy.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and dig trenches.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Ability to obtain Aerial Lift and Forklift certifications.
- Ability to read construction plans and manuals.
- Motivated to learn and focus on safety and quality.
Preferred:
- Experience with solar inverters and monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of technical design principles and tools.
- Experience with ERP and scheduling software.
