The Lead Expressive Therapist plays a crucial role in overseeing and guiding the Expressive Therapy team, ensuring alignment with established standards of care, best practices in mental health, and facility policies. This position involves several key responsibilities:Role Modeling: Demonstrate exemplary professional behavior and therapeutic techniques to inspire and instruct Expressive Therapists and Activity Therapists in their practice.Standards of Care: Ensure compliance with mental health regulations and facility policies, actively contributing to the quality of care provided to patients.Guidance and Support: Provide mentorship and support to Activity Therapists, facilitating their professional development and promoting best practices in expressive therapy.Philosophy and Objectives: Uphold and promote the hospital's philosophy and objectives by integrating them into therapy practices and team interactions.Educational and Quality Improvement Efforts: Participate in the design and implementation of ongoing education and training programs aimed at improving therapeutic skills and patient outcomes.Collaboration: Work closely with other health care professionals and departments to coordinate care and share insights on therapeutic interventions and patient progress.Program Development: Assist in developing and evaluating expressive therapy programs that meet the diverse needs of the patient population.Documentation and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of therapy sessions and interventions, maintaining compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Lead Expressive Therapist significantly contributes to a therapeutic environment that fosters healing and recovery for patients, while also enhancing the professional development of the therapy team.Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Music Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation; Master's Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Drama Therapy; or equivalent/related field.Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in one of the following areas: Recreation Therapy (CTRS); Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); Art Therapy (ATR); Dance/Movement Therapy (R-DMT); Drama Therapy (RDT); or Music Therapy (MT-BC).Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 90 days of employment.
