Job Summary: Prepares, cooks, and bakes food according to established recipes and standards for the hospital patients, staff, volunteers, and visitors. Oversees food production. Ensures that food is restocked and fresh. Leads the staff in working to improve and monitor recipes, cooking procedures and end products, food safety processes and documentation. Assists in orienting and training cooks and staff in new cooking techniques and procedures, new culinary equipment, and in following policies and procedures. Applies substantial knowledge and experience to perform a wide range of advanced activities and/or determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals; serves as working supervisor for team or work group. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Five years' relevant experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
  • SERV Safe certification or equivalent: Preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Oversees and collaborates with kitchen staff in preparing, washing, trimming, and cooking food items for each meal. Ensures safety techniques are met in food preparation.
  • Assists in teaching kitchen personnel in cooking and baking. Participates in training.
  • Cleans and sanitizes food contact surfaces according to department policy.
  • Collaborates with department team to resolve issues and develop new procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
