A lead carpenter is a skilled tradesperson who leads a team of carpenters on construction, remodeling, renovation, and a variety of maintenance projects. They are responsible for tasks ranging from repairs, managing materials to supporting other carpenters and ensuring job site safety. Examples of Duties
- Prepares surfaces using materials such as sand papers, paint removers, and steel wool, and equipment such as wire brushes and scrapers.
- Use of blow torches, repair surface by caulking nail holes, cracks arid joints and by patching plaster or sheetrock surfaces.
- Applies coats or paints, varnish, stains, enamel, lacquer to all types of interior and exterior building surfaces, building trims, windows, doors, machines, metal shelving and equipment by brushing, rolling or painting.
Typical Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License.
- 5 years' experience and good working knowledge of a variety of maintenance, repairs and other roofing related services.
- Experience in commercial roofing with RUR, EPDM, Single-ply, coating and other forms of low-slope roofing systems are a plus.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and to work from ladders or elevated platforms and roof tops.
