Essential Functions:
The Law Clerk provides legal support to the Judge, which includes conducting legal research, reviewing motions and court files, drafting memoranda, and revising work product. The Law Clerk responds to research questions on a case-by-case basis and delivers and triages the chamber's work prior to sending to the Judge. Attendance at court proceedings may be required as requested by the Judge. Duties will vary based on the level of the court: District Court, Circuit Court, Appellate Court of Maryland, and Supreme Court of Maryland.

Education: Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Preferred: Prior legal writing experience.

Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of laws, rules, court procedures, and the progression of cases from original charge through trial, sentencing, modification, and violation of probation stages. Proficiency in general office work such as filing and recording information. Familiarity with computer hardware and software. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to perform legal research, read and understand law-related materials, compose orders and memoranda, and apply policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and laws as required. Capability to perform all essential functions of this position.
