The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Position Summary Join the Laundry Services team that ensures clean and fresh clothing and linens for Wisconsin veterans! Laundry Workers at King are responsible for cleaning laundry for members and operational units of the Veterans Home. Duties include but are not limited to sorting and folding laundry, loading and emptying laundry trucks, operating laundry-processing equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. Salary Information Starting wage is $16.18 per hour, with additional compensation for weekends and holidays, plus an attractive employee benefits package. Laundry Worker is in pay schedule-pay range 03-08. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Pay for current State employees will be set per applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan. This position is not represented by a bargaining unit. Job Details This position works Sunday through Thursday, 0600 - 1430. Workdays might fall on holidays. Job duties include moving laundry carts, lifting and moving bags of laundry weighing up to 70 pounds, operating loud and/or shaking equipment, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and standing for prolonged periods. Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. A 12-month probationary period may be required.   • Performing light-to-medium manual labor (e.g., operating machinery; picking up and/delivering packages; loading/unloading trucks; folding and packaging products; bundling materials; sorting inventory; cleaning, maintaining and/or replacing equipment; handling items weighing up to 50 pounds, etc.); and
  • Working independently; and
  • Working as a member of a team; and
  • Following safety policies and standards; and/or
  • Working around vulnerable populations
