Ditmas Children's Nursing & Rehab

Ditmas Children's Nursing and Rehab is an inpatient subacute pediatric facility that specializes in treating medically complex children from birth to 21 years. Ditmas prioritizes interdisciplinary collaboration between nursing, medical, respiratory, recreation, and rehab. Within this 21- bed unit we care for every child with individualized treatment approaches. Children may be admitted to the facility with medical goals and rehab goals alike. We see children with various needs and conditions such as genetic, neurological, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and orthopedic. Ditmas strives to help each child meet each of their goals amongst every discipline so that they can go on to live their healthiest and happiest lives.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and sort clean and soiled laundry, ensuring linens are handled with care.

  • Inspect linens and remove stained, torn, or worn items for reprocessing or repair.

  • Transport linens within the laundry area using carts, tables, or trucks.

  • Assist with loading, hanging, and sorting uniforms and linens into steam tunnel machines.

  • Load and unload washers as needed.

  • Operate automatic laundry machines as required.

  • Prepare linen quotas for exchange carts and deliver to units and clinics.

  • Start and stop machines by following signals or indicator lights.

  • Sort, fold, and stack processed linens neatly on shelves, ensuring cleanliness is maintained.

  • Record accurate tallies of quantities and types of laundry processed, used, or issued.

  • Feed linens into spreaders, flatwork ironers, and crossfolders properly to prevent jams or malfunctions.

  • Pick up and deliver linens to nursing units throughout the medical center when required.

  • Follow departmental policies and procedures, including infection control, quality assurance, and safety standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Skills

  • Familiarity with automatic washing machines.

  • Good oral communication skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English as required by the position.
