Job Title: Landscape Architect/Planner IIJob Description
Join a dynamic and full-service land development engineering, landscape architecture, and planning firm as a Landscape Architect/Planner II in Fairfax, VA. This role involves partnering with commercial, residential, and government clients to deliver innovative Land Development solutions. You will be assisting team members across all project phases, focusing on graphic development and technical documentation. The position requires problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills to prepare feasibility studies, code analysis, planting plans, conceptual layouts, and graphic presentations. The designs will be completed using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other relevant software.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with project team members to guide and shape the design and delivery of various scale projects.
Assist in preparing design and construction drawings for landscape and general site designs, including layout, grading, and hardscape.
Work closely with senior team members to create conceptual designs using hand-drawn and digital techniques.
Participate in team design charettes, contributing ideas and thoughts.
Develop skills and efficiencies in design platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite.
Prepare digital graphics and renderings using Adobe Creative Suite and presentation software.
Provide graphic design, technical production, urban and landscape design, and site planning support for diverse projects, including mixed-use residential developments, streetscapes, parks, and community facilities.
Stay updated with Local, State, and Federal design standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
Maintain a strong knowledge of planting design and plant material suitable for the project region.
Perform quality assurance and quality control of own work before submission to senior team members.
Assist in the design and development of models in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D is a plus), SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline
3-8+ years of experience in landscape architecture and design
Licensure in Landscape Architecture is preferred (LSA, AICP, etc.)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience within the Northern Virginia region, preferably Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Arlington, Stafford, and Culpeper Counties.
Comprehensive knowledge of place-making in urban and suburban settings.
Experience in conducting feasibility studies, yield studies, zoning analyses, due diligence checklists, and site constraint identification.
Ability to prepare design guidelines, master zoning plans, generalized development plans, and conceptual or final development plans.
Working knowledge of the entitlement process, including applications for rezonings, special use permits, special exceptions, special permits, etc.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
