Job Type Full-time Description Description: The Landlord Liaison works to identify available housing opportunities for people experiencing chronic homelessness in the city of Boston. This role serves as the primary point of contact between landlords/property managers, clients and VPI's Paths to Victory housing program. The Landlord Liaison is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with housing providers to secure safe, stable, affordable housing for Paths to Victory participants. The Landlord Liaison will actively engage with landlords, property managers, developers and real estate associations in order to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships. The Landlord Liaison will create and maintain a housing resource database, including available unit vacancies and upcoming housing lotteries. This role will also be responsible for educating and advising case managers and clients on housing search and application practices, tenant and landlord rights & responsibilities rights of prospective tenants. The Landlord Liaison will also mediate to resolve tenant or landlord concerns in order to support housing retention for the clients we serve. The Landlord Liaison reports directly to the Program Director of VPI's Paths to Victory Program. Location: 434 Massachusetts Ave Boston Ma, 02118 Essential Functions:Recruit and Retain Landlords:

  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.'s Standards of Excellence, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.
  • Conduct outreach to engage with, develop and maintain a network of landlords and property management companies willing to rent to program participants, in order to expand housing opportunities across greater Boston. Promote landlord incentive programs and support services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for property owners to assist in filling vacant units and provide ongoing support to address any tenancy related concerns.
Tenant Placement Support:
  • Match clients with appropriate housing units.
  • Assist in the application process, negotiating lease terms and explaining program requirements to property owners.
  • Coordinate unit viewings, move-ins, habitability inspections and lease signings.
  • Ensure tenants understand lease terms, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Provide tenant support and landlord mediation once clients are housed.
Data & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of housing partners, available units, and program participant placements.
  • Complete and maintain required computer-based records, files, correspondence, and statistics in a timely, clear, thorough, accurate, and legible manner.
  • Track housing availability and produce regular reports on housing outcomes.
  • Possess a moderate to high level of comfortability with Microsoft and Google platforms with ability to utilize without close clerical support.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with funding and program requirements.
Program Coordination:
  • Collaborate with case managers, collateral contacts, partner agencies and other team members to support clients' successful transition to permanent housing.
  • Stay informed on housing laws, fair housing regulations, and landlord-tenant rights.
  • Demonstrate and build knowledge of local, state and federal housing laws and relevant housing programs (HUD CoC, RRH, etc).
  • Treat all clients, colleagues and landlords in a respectful non-judgmental manner.
  • Respond to inquiries, emails, phone calls, correspondence in a timely manner.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Participate and support the agency in program events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk and any additional functions.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
  • Two years of housing case management, landlord liaison or housing placement experience required.
  • Comfort and willingness to work on a mobile basis, serving individuals across a variety of settings. Access to reliable transportation in order to provide in home visit to stabilization clients when needed.
  • Must meet the agency's approved driver qualifications; Must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license with a driving point of 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 or 03.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural settings with diverse client groups, including those with substance use disorder or mental health issues.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of and Google platforms.
  • Sensitivity to addiction and recovery, cultural heritage, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, medical and psychiatric conditions.
  • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills.
  • Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Complete TB screening *may be obtained upon hire)
  • Three strong work related references, at least 2 from a manager or supervisor.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently in an environment with frequent distractions.
  • Able to professionally engage with people from diverse backgrounds, manage conflict, work as a member of a fast-paced team, give & receive constructive feedback.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with significant administrative experience including networking.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
