SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles prepping for the Equipment Operator. • Direct Customers where to safely dump their debris at the landfill. • Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed. • Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size. • Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill. • Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment. • Report any worker-public safety factors. • Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings. OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned. • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro. • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to follow safe operating practices. • Ability to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment • Ability to read, write and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments. Special Considerations/Physical Work Requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. • Push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climbing steps, and overhead reaching. • Walking, Jogging, Twisting, Crouching, Lifting • Sufficient stamina for steady work pace throughout the day • Ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by company. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
