Job DetailsJob LocationFUTEK - Irvine, CASalary Range$20.00 HourlyDescriptionPlease watch this brief video introductionJob Summary:The Lamination Operator will work to perform the application of strain gages or laminated materials to metal structures. Operator must be able to inspect their own work and compare against defined procedures, schematics and workmanship standards.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare workstations with appropriate tools, fixtures, and components according to assembly/process drawings.
- Conduct careful visual inspections of sensor components before and after the lamination process, including post-curing.
- Use microscopes or magnification lamps to carry out detailed work on small components.
- Interpret process drawings and work instructions to collect materials from the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Floor Stock locations.
- Monitor and ensure quality throughout the lamination process in accordance with internal standards.
- Complete and pass hands-on lamination skill assessments.
- Handle, trim, and adjust delicate single strain gages and terminal strips with precision.
- Prepare sensor surfaces before and after lamination to ensure proper adhesion and finish.
- Apply adhesives and install strain gages per detailed process diagrams.
- Assemble fixtures as required, using fine motor skills and hand tools (e.g., clamps, torque tools).
- Perform post-lamination inspections and clean both the parts and tooling.
- Use digital multimeters (DMM) to take and document resistance measurements.
- Accurately log inspection results and job progress in our MES system.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S workplace standards.
- Perform basic math operations and read measuring tools, including rulers and calipers, with accuracy.
Shift Availability:
- 1st Shift: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM - 10:00 PM
QualificationsCompetencies:
- Ability to read/write and effectively communicate in English.
- Very strong attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Competent with basic hand instruments such as tweezers, measurement tools, wrenches, screwdrivers and electrical aided tightening tools.
- Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including ability to work with small components that require magnification.
- Ability towork with minimum supervision to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Time management skills.
- Knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Knowledge of measuring ruler or measuring equipment and relationship to fractional or decimal equivalents.
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, mild fumes and moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites is considered moderate.Physical Demands:Requires regular, predictable, attendance and punctuality. Requires prolonged periods or sitting, occasional standing, stooping, bending and reaching and repetitive hand movements. Must have the ability to routinely lift objects up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift objects above this weight with assistance.
