Lactation Registered Nurse Specialist - Northwell Health : Job Details

Educates and assists breastfeeding mothers and families to foster a successful breastfeeding experience. Provides direct and indirect patient care as well as serving as a resource for other members of the healthcare team. Ensures implementation of effective family-centered breastfeeding program by ongoing collaboration with pediatricians, neonatologists, obstetricians, and nursing staff; promotes breastfeeding and educates the community in prenatal and postpartum periods. Provides physical and psychosocial support, education, and discharge planning during childbirth hospitalization. Job Responsibility Performs and documents initial and ongoing breastfeeding assessment including spiritual and cultural needs; prioritizes data collection based on the patients immediate condition or needs including spiritual and cultural needs.
