We think you'll find it a rewarding and nurturing place to grow your career.Starting Salary Range: $21.73 - $26.47General Summary of Duties:Responsible for washing and disinfecting BWL fleet vehicles and equipment, assist equipment mechanics, clean up maintenance area, and any other labor function as requested.Essential Functions:
  • Safely cleans and disinfects BWL vehicles and equipment, responsible for disinfecting all Motor Pool vehicles and equipment on a routinebasis, assists equipment mechanics with mechanical repairs; sweeps floors; empties trash containers; assists with parts pickup; operates forklift; uses hand and power tools; performs other duties as directed.
  • Required to follow BWL safety manual rules and wear the required personal protective equipment.
  • Attends all training for safety awareness and skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL, or government agency such as MIOSHA.
Job Specifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must work ten-hour shift between 1:30pm - 11:30pm, four consecutive days (Monday through Thursday).
  • Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and drive various types of vehicles and construction equipment within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years Vehicle and Equipment cleaning experience. Knowledge of BWL Fleet and BWL locations a plus.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL):Candidates must possess a valid MI License with an acceptable driving record. Upon hire they must provide proof of successful completion of the State of MI written portion of the CDL examination and pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam. Within 6 months of the date of hire they must successfully pass the MI CDL skills/road. Internal applicants must currently possess valid MI CDL with required endorsements or at minimum, pass DOT physical exam and State of MI written portion of CDL examination within 15 days of transfer. Individuals will be subject to DOT requirements in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA), including random testing for controlled substances and alcohol.Physical Requirements:Occasionally lifts 75 lbs from ground level to chest height. Must be able to climb and work from ladders and at heights. Must have adequate hearing to understand speech communication in a low to moderately noisy environment.Working Conditions:Work indoors and outdoors in all temperature and humidity ranges. Occasionally exposed to mud, dust, grease, oil, and vehicle cleaning and disinfecting supplies. Occasional exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection.
