Lab Manager Technician (Contract)
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (On-site)
Contract: 12 Months
Pay: Up to $30.00 per hour
We are seeking a Lab Manager Technician for a 12-month contract position in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a crucial, hands-on role where you will be responsible for the daily coordination, operation, and maintenance of laboratory facilities to ensure compliance with our client's quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage laboratory equipment, including calibration, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain the asset tracking system to ensure all asset locations, state, and availability are current.
- Coordinate inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and consumables; place orders as needed to avoid disruptions.
- Support testing activities by preparing samples, conducting routine tests, and ensuring accurate data recording.
- Upgrade and downgrade software on robotic devices to support daily testing activities.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure proper documentation of laboratory activities.
- Train and guide laboratory staff, interns, or contractors on safety and technical procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Manufacturing) to support projects requiring laboratory services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in alignment with company EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
- Prepare reports, metrics, and updates for management regarding laboratory performance and compliance status.
Requirements:
- Technical degree in Laboratory Sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in laboratory environments, preferably within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and quality management systems (ISO, GMP, GLP).
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and laboratory management systems.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong customer service mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical company.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
