About the Role The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for receiving, processing, and analysis of specimens, verifying data, and performing quality assurance. Investigates and develops new methods and performs technical review of analytical reports and data for Clinical Pathology. What You'll Do Here • Processes and handles analytical specimens • Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment • Prepares, stores, and maintains inventory of required reagents and materials • Produces, reviews, and manages analytical data • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and failures and notifies management • Participate in continuing education programs as directed by department management • Participate in ongoing daily quality assurance activities and quality assurance studies • Works closely with pathologist and managers to continually improve laboratory operations • Investigates and develops analytical methods under supervision • Qualifies and validates analytical instrumentation and methods under supervision • Performs advanced troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and methods • Performs technical review of data • Cross trains to perform other duties within Laboratory Services • Trains other staff on duties of Laboratory Technician II • Assesses supplies for departmental need and order necessary items What You'll Need to Succeed • BA/BS or AA in a science related field preferred • 3+ years experience or training in a clinical laboratory; combination of education and experience considered • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, database entry and navigational skills and ability to operate equipment dedicated computerized systems • Proficiency in English including speaking, reading, and writing • Basic math skills as they needed for interpreting scientific processes • Ability to function independently in fast-paced, changing environment, as well as part of a team • Productivity, initiative and expert judgment required in carrying out responsibilities • Comfortable communicating with all levels of management and employees • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment • Easily identifies and resolves experimental problems as they are encountered • Positive attitude toward work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisor What We Offer: Altasciences offers a wide variety of benefits to help our employees live healthy and fulfilling lives both at and outside of work.
