JOB TITLE: Laboratory Supervisor LOCATION: Poughkeepsie, NY DEPARTMENT: Clinical Laboratory STATUS: Full-time, Exempt REPORTS TO: Laboratory Director

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely testing across all laboratory sections. This role provides leadership to laboratory staff, coordinates workflow, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports the Laboratory Director in driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS/MT/MLS) with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.

• Supervise and support daily laboratory operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.

• Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations for technologists, technicians, and support staff.

• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and coordination of workload to maintain timely turnaround of results.

• Oversee proficiency testing, quality control, calibrations, and instrument maintenance; troubleshoot as needed.

• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, state licensure, and other regulatory/accreditation requirements.

• Participate in preparation for inspections, audits, and implementation of corrective actions.

• Monitor and promote staff safety, including proper use of PPE, chemical handling, and compliance with safety protocols.

• Collaborate with the Laboratory Director to implement new tests, instrumentation, and process improvements.

• Maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and SOPs in alignment with regulatory standards.

• Act as a resource for technical problem-solving and serve as a liaison between staff and leadership.

• May perform bench testing and provide technical coverage as needed.

• Bachelor s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required.

• Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.

• Minimum of 4 6 years of clinical laboratory experience; lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

• Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• Proven knowledge of laboratory regulations, quality management, and accreditation standards.

• Ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
