Supervisor Of Lab

The Supervisor of Lab oversees routine lab activities. This ensures adequate staffing and timely, quality-standard tests. Assists with hiring, training, evaluations, and payroll.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Supervises the work of assigned subordinates in testing phases. Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director.
  • Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel. Assists in selecting, orienting, training, assigning, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging employees.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to the laboratory, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Communicates and escalates staffing issues or other concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • Monitors the inventory system to ensure that necessary supplies are available as needed and in the proper quantity.
  • Assists with implementing quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with reviewing quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any corrective actions.
  • Assists with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.

  • Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
  • General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • Experience - 4 Years of Experience

    • ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT), ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC): Must have one of the following:
