Job Description:
- The Department of Antibody Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Automation Specialist to join our Research organization.
- This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with automation engineers, bench scientists and informatics teams to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cutting-edge automated systems aimed at accelerating the discovery of therapeutic molecules.
- Collaborate with department members to identify opportunities for automating manual workflows.
- Develop and test protocols on integrated laboratory systems and stand-alone liquid handlers.
- Work closely with scientists to troubleshoot issues and provide technical expertise.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure that automated systems are performing at their best.
- Create and maintain user operation guides, web page content, and other critical documentation.
- Provide user training to ensure effective and efficient use of automation equipment.
- Ensure that all automation systems are in optimal working condition through proactive maintenance and vendor engagement.
- B.S./B.A. degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
- 1-3 years of relevant industrial experience, ideally in a drug discovery or sample management setting.
- Experience with laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton, or similar systems).
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve hardware, software, and protocol-related issues.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation programming (e.g., Python, VBScript, or equivalent) is a plus.
Technical Information:
- Pay: $40-50 hourly, depending on experience level
- Onsite, M-F, 8am-5pm
- 12-month contract with potential for extension/conversion
